1956-71  
  Lived in San Diego with maternal grandparents.  
  Uncle, Jack Wilkes, was photographer for Life magazine. 
  Great-grandfather, retired Welsh coal miner, was hobby photographer. 
  Began processing film at Naval Training Center hobby shop, 1963. 

1971-74  
  Attended University of California at Santa Cruz. 
  Discussed personal work with Wynn Bullock, Ansel Adams. 
  Studied film-making and psychology at UCSD. 
  Participated in artist exchange between UCSC and California Institute of the Arts, 
  organized by Hans Haake and Alan Kaprow. 
  Commissioned to photograph twenty individuals for UCSC McHenry Library. 
  Graduated with independent major in photography from UCSC. 
  Hitch-hiked through mid-west US, Canada, Mexico. 

1975  
  Worked as graphic arts tech at Solar in San Diego. 
  Photographed Hells Angels San Diego chapter. 
  Photographed cave paintings in Baja California. 

1976  
  Photographer/Spanish interpreter for Baltic trader sailing from Mexico to  
 Galapagos Islands, following the course of Morgan the Pirate. 
  Photographer for San Diego Reader weekly newspaper. 
  Photography assistant for Robert Ward Architectural Photography. 

1976-78  
  Photographer/Technical Camera Operator for La Jolla Light weekly newspaper. 
  First photographer accepted for membership in San Diego Artist’s Cooperative. 
  Two photographs accepted by San Diego Fine Arts Gallery and exhibited in 
  California-Hawaii Biennial. 

1978-89 

1989-2003  
  Began making photographs in color. 
  Interviewed on “Q”  arts program for KQED television. 
  Photographed in England, Wales, Australia, and at major street parades, 
  protests and events in San Francisco;  
  Pride Parade,  Carnaval, Aids Walk, 
  Bay to Breakers, Renaissance Faire, Burning Man event. 
  Donated photographic services to San Francisco Aids Foundation.
